The government shutdown and how it affects you

The government has entered its third day of shutdown without indication of the showdown ending anytime soon. The last time there was a partial shutdown of the federal government, there was a Democrat in the White House and Republicans controlled the House of Representatives. However, this situation is different. Democrats and Republicans are not any closer to bridging the differences than they were at the start of this ordeal.

So what does this government shutdown mean for seniors in Malibu? Elderly vets or widows can breathe a sigh of relief. Among the "essential" functions that are preserved in the partial shutdown are Social Security checks, payments from the Veterans Pension and Aid & Attendance Benefit and US Postal Service. So seniors and adults who recieve financial aid benefits through these venues will not be affected.
